Pierre Portelli was born in Malta in 1961. He studied graphic design at the Swindon College School of Art and Design. He principally works on installations, for design books as well as for stage. He gives lectures at the University of Malta and is a founding member of START, a Maltese contemporary art group. In 2002, he worked with Lovedifference and the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto at the 50th Venice Biennial. He has exhibited at the Pierides Museum of Contemporary Art in Nicosia, Cyprus, at the Liechtenstein Palace in Feldkirch in Austria, at the Tunis City Musium in Tunisia, the Kheïrredine Palace also in Tunis, the Chiesa Santa Chiara in the Republic of San Marino and also in Italy, the United States at the University of Conneticut and of course in many exhibiton venues on his native island of Malta.
