ArchiLab's development since its creation makes it a major reference for research architecture today. The platform presents initiatives by teams of the most innovative architects from around the world. Held every two years, this national and international festival unveils projects and achievements which are contributing to reviving perspectives and debates on the bond between architecture and society.
An initiative by the city of Orléans, the event draws on the remarkable contemporary architecture knowledge resource of the regional archive of contemporary art held by the centre run by Marie-Ange Brayer.
The 2008 event explores Europe and its developments in terms of national planning. It provides a measure of the European Union's significant contribution in the fields of development planning and architecture. ArchiLab Europe presents projects and programmes initiated by the European Union to support inter-regional and cross-border planning strategies.
The aim of this season is to promote a renewed image of Europe, its common heritage and the vitality of its creativity. ArchiLab Europe encourages a convergence of cultural initiatives in the city, with the Institut d'Arts Visuels, Les Carmes cinema, the Centre Dramatique National and the Agence d'Urbanisme de l'Agglomération Orléanaise taking part in this European event.
