European Centre for Contemporary Art (Brussels)

More than ever, the news and its media content interfere in daily life. The phenomenon worsened in the 1980s with the ascendency of television, satellite and the Internet.

In the field of art, we have seen a category of artists take shape playing with the codes of the documentary, even if it means bluring the lines between art, drama and reporting.

This exhibiton presents approaches that offer different views of the world through a multitude of techniques and media from photography to installation via video.

The artists selected are Kader Attia, Yto Barrada, Eric Baudelaire, Philippe Chancel, Claudine Doury, Ange Leccia, Claude Lêveque, Jean-Luc Moulène, Melik Ohanian, Sophie Ristelhuber, Anri Sala and Lise Sarfati.

Commissionership : Anne-Laure Chamboissier and Bernard Marcelis

The exhibition takes place at the European Centre for Contemporary Art (La Centrale électrique) in Brussels, which opened on 22nd June 2006. Offering an exhibition area of 1000 m2 on one level, since it opened, the European Centre for Contemporary Art has already welcomed more than 50,000 visitors with various large exhibitions.
