exceptional conference: four Greek prime ministers and France
agenda
October 7th, 2008Practical
International conference centre - KléberWith the participation of writers, intellectuals, scientists and politicians, this will be a presentation of four people who have made a mark on Greek political life in the 20th century: Harilaos Trikoupis, Eleftherios Venizelos, Constantine Karamanlis and Constantine Mitsotakis. Their exile in France during troubled periods will be covered.
Topics for discussion: their relations with French politicians, the influence of French political life on their lifestyle and politics, as well as the European direction which these men's political thought may have taken as a result of their presence in France. Their stays in France not only made it possible to strengthen friendly Franco-Hellenic relations but also inspired these four men in their political, ideological and social work. Analysis of their work and their life will provide an understanding as much of the political past as of Greece's journey towards achieving the European dream.
