How does the cinematography of the different countries that make up the European Union represent the boundaries of Europe? What changes have these representations experienced since 1945 and what does cinema today tell us about this question? By questioning these boundaries which are sometimes obstacles, sometimes locations of confrontation or discussion, the Toulouse Film Archive is proposing to search for the European identity. From the founding film "Allemagne, année zéro" (R.Rossellini) to the more recent "De l'autre coté" (F. Akin) moving through "Un, deux, trois" (B. Wilder) or "Dirty Pretty Things" (S. Frears), a surprising Chinese portrait of Europe is to be discovered from 4th to 30th September 2008.
Tribute is paid to Angeliki Antonio, the author of "Eduart", who was awarded a prize by the last Festival of Mediterannean Cinema in Montpellier, a powerful film, screenings of which are rare. An interview with the film director is scheduled for 11th September for a journey to the heart of Europe between Athens, Tirana and Berlin.
