Practical
in Domaine Pommery
The fifth large exhibition of modern art presented at the Pommery Estate after "The influence of location. A Daniel Buren Proposition" in 2007, "Art in Europe" takes stock of the state of the European creation, its trends, discussions and key players at a time when the Union is undergoing enlargement. To stick as close to reality as possible for this artistic scene on several levels, the Pommery Estate and Beaux Arts magazine invited the major contemporary art reveiws in Europe to each select two of the best young artists from their country. Around fifty artists and as many works, representative of the vitality of the 27 national scenes feature in the exhibition, a testimony to the effervescence and richness of the made in Europe creation.
By making the art reviews and their editors in chief the key stewards for this exhibition "Art in Europe" not only intends to present the creation as it is seen and percieved by those involved in art in each country but also to emphasize the richness of critical thought related to contemporary art. A thought which is expressed fully and in its diversity in the catalogue published for "Art in Europe" bringing together the texts from all the exhibitions stewards, invited to talk to us about the situation of art in their country today.
"Art in Europe", which reflects the two previous exhibitions of "Art in the World" organised by Beaux Arts magazine in 1998 and 2000, is part of the European cultural season organised by Culturesfrance from 1st July to 31st December 2008.
