Statement of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the situation in Gaza

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union expresses its deep concern over the continuation of rocket attacks on Israeli territory from Gaza.
It condemns the attacks and calls for a return to the truce as swiftly as possible.
It recalls that the re-opening of crossings is a matter of urgency for humanitarian aid to reach the Palestinian people. Civilians must not be held hostage to the violence.
