Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Water

In the context of the "Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean", a ministerial conference on water will be held on 22 December in Jordan.

In the context of the "Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean", France, Egypt and Jordan will co-chair the ministerial conference on water in Jordan on 22 December 2008. The aims of this conference will be twofold:

to set guidelines for the Mediterranean water strategy which should be approved by the ministers of the countries belonging to this process by 2010 at the earliest, and if possible submitted to the Heads of State at their second summit planned for 2010 ;
to mobilise governments involved in this process to add identifying water-related infrastructure projects that are in line with this strategy to their list of priorities and to mobilise financial backers for these projects.
