Statement by the Presidency of the Council of the European union on the attack in Iraq on 11 December

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union strongly condemns the attack in Kirkuk on 11 December that killed at least 50 people and injured around 100 people.
It conveys its condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones and reaffirms its full solidarity with the Iraqi government in the face of such terrorist acts.
This attack took place in a town whose political balance is crucial to Iraq’s stability. The Presidency of the Council of the European again urges all Iraqis to unite to reject violence, consolidate the progress achieved in security and settle differences peacefully, through institutional channels.
