This symposium will bring together European and Japanese companies, clusters, funding agencies and research centres working in the area of energy management and new and renewable sources of energy and their various applications, with a particular focus on energy efficiency in the public works and building sector, water and waste processing, natural hazard management and clean vehicles of the future and their parts.
Various inter-expert workshops and visits to industrial and research and development sites will provide the forums for discussion at this symposium, which will facilitate the establishment of a dynamic Euro-Japanese partnership for developing innovative, sustainable technology and production standards. The workshops will be preceded by several presentations from representatives from the European Commission's SET Plan (European Strategic Energy Technology Plan) setting out an overall policy on the promotion of innovation and eco-technology and placing them in perspective. Representatives of the International Energy Agency, the countries of the European Union and Japan ('Cool Earth' programme) will also participate in the debates.
The most promising innovative technologies will be discussed, particularly those relating to clean vehicles of the future and their parts (clean engines, batteries, biofuels, etc.), as will new, renewable and innovative energy sources (wind, photovoltaic power, hydrogen, biomass, etc.).
