- On: 26.11.2008
The French Presidency of the Council of the European Union was horrified and indignant to learn of the terrorist attacks perpetrated in Mumbai. It condemns them in the strongest possible manner.
Our thoughts go first of all to the victims’ families and loved ones to whom we extend our condolences, and wishes to assure the injured of our full sympathy. Our thoughts are also with the Indian authorities and the Maharashtra State, with whom we express our solidarity in these tragic circumstances.
The French Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns with equal force the hostage taking which still continues in a hotel in Mumbai.
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union recognises the Indian people’s attachment to democracy, which has been directly targeted by these terrorist acts. It joins in the mourning of the Indian Nation and stands beside it during this distressing trial.
