A seminar of rural development directors-general of the 27 EU Member States will take place on 20 and 21 November 2008 at the Hospices de Beaune (Côte-d'Or, France).
These two days will provide an opportunity for the community of directors to exchange their views and thoughts. The aim is to give the EU Member States a comprehensive overview of rural development. The discussions will notably cover the way in which an integrated approach can be defined for the economic development of rural areas. The issues arising from the new challenges - climate change, renewable energy sources, biodiversity and the conservation of water resources - will also be addressed.
The two-day meeting will be structured around technical discussions and field visits.
