The FEACT will be held on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 November in the Senate building.

A deepen cooperation requires better mutual acquaintance of the Members States, exchange of experiences and good practices. For these reasons a commun reflection is necessary.

In the framework of the French Presidence of the European Union the FEACT will take place in Paris on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st November 2008 and will deal with commun topics. This forum aims in a comparative and prospective way, to create a dynamic of cooperation and exchange between the 27 Members States on the subject of territorial organisation.

This event aims three major purposes:

  • Deepen cooperation by better mutual acquaintance,
  • Pool different experiences to identify good practices,
  • Attempt to outline the future.

The FEACT organised by the French Ministry of Interior, Overseas and Local and Regional Authorities, will gather representatives of the Members States, politicians, academics internationally renowned and senior officials specialised in those topics. Thus, the German Secretary of State for Interior, Peter Altmaier, the Swedish Secretary of State for Finance, Dan Ericsson, and Mari Kiviniemi, Finnish Minister of Public Administration and Local Government, accepted to take part in this forum. Mrs Michèle Alliot-Marie, French Minister of Interior, Overseas and Local and Regional Authorities and Mr. Alain Marleix, French Secretary of State for Interior Affairs and Local and Regional Authorities, will speak.

The presence of officials, academics and policy makers will provide the opportunity for comparing the subject from different and complementary perspectives.
