Declaration by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Afghanistan

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns in the strongest terms the suicide car bomb attack in the Nangarhar province on Thursday 13 November.
This attack, shortly after the deaths of 4 International Security Assistance Force soldiers from the Spanish and British contingents, killed 1 US soldier in the military convoy targeted. According to the latest reports, it also killed 10 Afghan civilians and injured 67 others present at the time.
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union conveys its condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones and expresses its sympathy to the injured. It expresses its solidarity with the Afghan, Spanish, British and US governments.
