At the Cité des Congrès in Lyons, managers of natural areas from various European countries will share their vision of the day-to-day reality, evolution and European dimension of their jobs.
The forum aims to promote the recognition of jobs relating to natural areas by raising the awareness of public policymakers (European Commission, states, ministries, local authorities), the media and the general public. It should also optimise the professionalism of managers of natural areas through an analysis of the required skills, work situations and initial and vocational training; identify the dynamics for development; support managers in their management approach; and strengthen European cooperation, particularly for establishing ecological corridors.
The three main outcomes expected are: the establishment of the parameters for a European skills database according to the latest issues (greenways and linear parks, climate change) and tools (Natura 2000); the proposal of recommendations for improving the criteria for assessing European policies to preserve biodiversity (in terms of ecology, the economy, employment and skills deployed at local level); and the positioning of European and global issues so as to define the skills required for networking.
This forum targets a varied public: people managing natural areas, directors, HR managers, network heads; representatives of governments and local authorities, ministries, the European Commission, NGOs; representatives of training and employment support structures, etc.
Provisional programme:
o First day: Field visits (biotope legislation, differentiated management, controlled development), Ile au Beurre (lônes du Rhône), the large urban park of Miribel Jonage in Vaulx en Velin and the Parc naturel régional du Pilat.
o Second and third day: Lectures, round tables or workshops, accompanied by discussions on training, twinning and international cooperation initiatives will cover the following three subjects: recognition of professions and jobs; professionalisation, effectiveness and management; governance and anticipation.
