The second European Interregional Cooperation Forum, organised in the framework of the INTERREG IVC programme with the support of the French Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, is being held under the French Presidency in Lille on 27 and 28 October 2008. Over 800 national, regional and local authorities from the EU member countries are expected to attend, alongside EU institutions.

INTERREG IVC is an EU-funded programme which helps regions in Europe to create partnerships which promote working together on common projects. Its aim is therefore to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies and contribute to economic modernisation and increased competitiveness in Europe through interregional cooperation in the areas of innovation, the knowedge economy, the environment and risk prevention.

The second call for proposals under the INTERREG IVC programme will be launched on this occasion. This is a key moment for programme project sponsors, providing them with an opportunity to present the first of the INTERREG IVC projects and their ideas for the future. A set of tools will be made available to the participants to help them identify and meet potential partners. This year, particular focus will be on participants from Romania and Bulgaria which are for the first time fully-fledged programme partners.

The main speakers at the forum are Danial Percheron, President of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, Jan Olbrycht, MEP, and Michel Delebarre, Vice-Chairman of the Committee of the Regions. Jean-Pierre Jouyet, the French Minister of State for European Affairs will give the closing speech.

Online registration for the event, as well as practical information and accomodation offers are available on the website: www.interreg4c.eu
