Address of the President of the European Council to the European Parliament

Nicolas Sarkozy, the current president of the European Council, was in Strasbourg at 10:00 on Wednesday 21 October 2008 to inform the European Parliament of the results of the European Council of 15 and 16 October 2008.

The President of the European Council spoke before the plenary session and responded to questions from the presidents of the political groups and the other MEPs, in the presence of José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission. He was accompanied by Bernard Kouchner, the French Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, the French Minister of State for European Affairs, and Brice Hortefeux, the French Minister for Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Mutually-Supportive Development.

The President of the European Council then held a press conference at 12:30 together with Hans-Gert Pöttering, the President of the European Parliament.
