Conference on industrial property rights in the internal market : visions of combating counterfeiting

The protection of innovation via industrial property rights (patents, trademarks, designs and industrial designs) plays a major role in promoting the competitiveness of enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises in particular. Users must, therefore, have the means of protecting their industrial property rights and ensuring they are respected throughout the whole of the European Union.

The conference on industrial property rights in the internal market will be an opportunity for exchanging views and identifying perspectives on topical Community issues that apply to industrial property, and for exploring means of better combatting counterfeiting within the European Union.  

This conference will bring together all the European industrial property stakeholders, namely representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, specialist offices and authorities, industrial sectors and the business world, as well as lawyers specialising in industrial property.


This event will revolve around 6 panel discussions devoted to the patent jurisdiction system, the Community patent and the different aspects of combatting counterfeiting, such as the economic stakes and the implications for competitiveness and innovation, the consequences for citizens' health and safety, and cross-border cooperation.
