From 8 to 10 October 2008, the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union is holding in Bordeaux a meeting of the committee for the implementation of the so-called 'Seveso' Directive.
From 8 to 10 October 2008, the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union is holding in Bordeaux a meeting of the committee for the implementation of the so-called 'Seveso' Directive on the control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances.
In addition to the 27 Member States, observers from other countries and international organisations will participate in the debates.
The meetings of this Committee, every six months, are an opportunity to hold negotations which give rise to decisions from the European Commission. Discussions will focus on the effectiveness of the Directive, its implementation and the perspectives for revision, as well as on safety performance indicators and inspection practices in installations which store or handle hazardous substances.
