This conference will allow participants to share current thinking on ways to change the public perception of and approach to knowledge, and to reform educational practices.

The "Education and Training 2010" programme aims to increase people's scientific culture in general and to increase the number of pupils and students studying sciences. This conference, which will bring together 300 European experts, will provide a platform for reflections on the practices, tools and efforts being implemented to change public perceptions, as well as on the reform of curricula and educational practices. It should enhance the Council conclusions being prepared by the French Presidency on the theme of "School in the 21st Century", as a follow-up to the European Commission Communication on modernising school education in Europe.
