The EU-Russia Permanent Partnership Council on Energy will take place in Paris on 8 October 2008. This working meeting is not open to the press.
The Permanent Partnership Council (PPC) in the format of energy ministers formalises the energy dialogue established in 2000 between the European Union and Russia. The PPC meeting of 8 October 2008 is being held a month ahead of the EU-Russia Summit of the Heads of State and Government on 14 November.
The meeting has a two-fold objective: to review EU-Russian cooperation in the area of energy, particularly within three PPC working groups (strategies and scenarios, the development of markets and energy efficiency), and to demonstrate that the energy dialogue continues to be a necessary and useful tool for deepening and stabilising energy relations between the European Union and Russia.
This working meeting is closed to the press.
