The European Research Council (ERC) is a body that has recently been set up by the European Union in the context of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Community for Research and Technological Development, to encourage exploratory research.

As an integral part of the European Research Area, the 7th Framework Programme, through calls for proposals, funds individual scientific teams which are selected on the sole criterion of excellence. This event targets a twin public: the scientific community and policymakers. It aims to enable them to better understand the European Research Council and the role it can play in their respective areas of expertise, as a construction tool for excellence in European research.
