Declaration by the Presidency of the European Union on the situation in Bolivia

The European Union supports the step taken by UNASUR, whose Heads of State held an extraordinary meeting in Santiago on 15 September with a view to helping resolve in a peaceful and democratic manner which respects Bolivia's territorial integrity the crisis gripping the country. The European Union endorses the terms of the Palacio de la Moneda Declaration.
The European Union welcomes the fact that, through the efforts of the national actors, that meeting facilitated the signing on 16 September of an agreement to open a national dialogue. The European Union is ready to respond favourably to an invitation to support that dialogue alongside other national and international actors.
The European Union hopes, moreover, that Bolivia may maintain constructive diplomatic relations with all its partners.
