The 10th EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation Council will be held in Brussels on 16 September.Chaired by Jean-Pierre Jouyet, Minister of State for European Affairs, the Cooperation Council will be the opportunity to underline the solid and positive relations between the EU and this major central Asian country that contributes to regional stability and will chair the OSCE in 2010.
The Cooperation Council will tackle the main aspects related to the implementation of the EU's Central Asia Strategy, adopted in June 2007, and review the progress achieved in developing themed EU initiatives in this region (education, rule of law, water).
It will also help prepare the forthcoming French EU Presidency meetings on the region, particularly the first European Union-Central Asia Forum on Security Issues (Paris, 18 September 2008), and examine the fields in which cooperation might be increased, specifically energy and trade.
