- On: 14.07.2008
The European Union has taken note of the statements made by the prosecutor of the ICC concerning the crimes committed in Darfur.
It is now up to the judges of the Pre-Trial Chamber of the ICC to determine what action they intend to take in response to the request issued by the prosecutor.

The European Union reaffirms the strategic importance of the search for a political solution in Darfur and of the implementation of the North-South peace agreement (CPA). It calls on the Sudanese Government of National Unity and all parties, groups and movements in Darfur to work towards those objectives, in the interests of the population of Sudan and the stability of the country and the region.
The European Union reaffirms its willingness to support the peace efforts in Darfur.
