Declaration by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the attack against the Consulate General of the United States in Istanbul on 9 July

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns in the strongest possible terms this morning’s attack against the US Consulate General in Istanbul, which killed three Turkish police officers in charge of the building’s security.
It expresses its full solidarity with the Turkish and US Governments and conveys its condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones.
The Presidency recalls that the European Union is actively engaged, and stands together with Turkey and the United States, in the fight against terrorism.
