It is with emotion and indignation that we learned of the murder yesterday of Osman Ali Ahmed, Head of the United Nations Development Programme in Mogadishu.
Our first thoughts go to his family and loved ones to whom we convey our deepest condolences.
We condemn this despicable act that was directed, through Osman Ali Ahmed, at the action of the United Nations to benefit the Somali people and recalls the need for swift implementation of the ceasefire agreement concluded in Djibouti between the Transitional Federal Government and the Alliance for the Reliberation of Somalia.'
