Launched on 6 May, at the same time as the European Union Film Festival, the "Season" in Singapore will last 8 months until 31 December 2008 and its programme includes close to sixty cultural events from all member countries of the EU. The "European Season" in Singapore is also designed to be repeated every year, beyond the French Presidency of the EU.
"Encore! the European Season in Singapore" brings together the 16 European diplomatic and consular missions in Singapore, the Delegation of the European Commission, the four European cultural institutions (Alliance Française, Goethe Institute, Italian Institute, British Council) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. The "Season" has garnered financial support from major foundations in the country, European and local corporations, as well as full support from the two major holdings of press and media (Singapore Press Holdings and Mediacorp).
